Summer Events a Success!

Downtown Summerside annual Sidewalk Sale was held on July 15 & 16. This year's Sidewalk Sale was a huge success. There was 40 businesses take part in the two day event. With great entertainment, lots of bargains and several food vendors, the streets were packed for the two days.

Downtown Summerside organized a new event this summer, the 1st annual Kokanee Triathalon, which was held on July 18th at Green's Shore. The race began when teams of four constructed a raft with 14 logs and 100 feet of rope, which they raced around a mark, a quarter of a mile out into the Summerside Harbour. As the teams returned to shore, they put on their running shoes and ran to the Harbour Quay, where wheelbarrows were the final challenge to the finish line. The winning team was Consolidated Credit Union II, team members were, Ron Casey, Darren Reeves, Steven Reeves and Allan Gaudet.

Tall Ships Sailing to Summerside

Yes, we do have more tall ships coming into the Summerside Harbour. During the month of September there will be three tall ships visiting us.

Caledonia, September 12th

The largest Tall Ship built in North America during the past 100 years and has recently underwent construction at a Hamilton Shipyard. The Caledonia is owned and operated by Canadian Sailing Expedition of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

HMS Bounty, September 24-28th

The HMS Bounty is the most famous Tall Ship in the world. She is famous for her Motion Pictures made about Mutiny on the Bounty first in 1962 with Trevor Howard as Bligh, Marlon Brando as Christian. Then again in 1982 with Anthony Hopkins as Bligh and Mel Gibson as Christian.

We hope to see everyone down by the water when they sail into our port.
